Mia Pena – 2014 Play for a Cure Oregon – Survivor of Ceremonies

Mia Pena

Mia Pena

Hello, my name is Mia Pena.

I am a breast cancer survivor and will celebrate my 7 year anniversary on October 30, 2014.
I was stunned, scared, and very sad when I was told I had breast cancer. When I heard there were so many local people volunteering to find a cure for this disease, I wanted to help too.
I became a Peer Navigator at Salem Cancer Institute and began helping newly diagnosed breast cancer patients by giving them support, answering questions, and helping them through treatment. I have been very happy to help in this way.
I participate in many breast cancer events and Play for a Cure is one of my favorites. I am honored be a part of this great event and hope you will spread the word to your family and friends so we can continue to raise awareness in our community.
